The requirements for dialysis water treatment can be analyzed from three aspects: physical quality, chemical quality, and biological quality.

1. Physical Quality

Including the water output and operational stability of the system. Adequate water flow is used to ensure sufficient water pressure to provide the required number of beds, hemodialysis treatment, and stability.

2. Chemical Quality

This includes two aspects: treated water conductivity and ion removal. The conductivity of the treated water shall not exceed 10S (25ppm). The ion removal rate of chemical pollutants should meet the corresponding requirements.

3. Biological Quality

This includes two aspects. One is the total number of bacteria in the treated water, which should not exceed 100 CFU/mL. Secondly, the bacterial endotoxin water treatment equipment output shall not exceed 1 EU/mL; The inlet of the blood dialysis device for bacterial endotoxins at the delivery location should not exceed five EU/mL. (This is the focus that everyone should pay attention to)

4. Possible manifestations caused by poor water quality

(1) Long term hemodialysis patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, abnormal protein deposition, pathological changes in the immune system, joint and bone diseases, etc. are directly related to trace bacteria and endotoxins.

(2) Chloramine can cause blood volume, anemia, and chronic hemoglobinopathy.

(3) Aluminum can cause dialysis bone disease, dialysis encephalopathy, and anemia.

(4) High calcium and magnesium ions can cause hard water syndrome, nausea, vomiting, headache, fever, and hypertension.

(5) Excessive bacteria and heat sources can cause heat reactions.

(6) Insoluble particles can cause blockages in the dialyzer filter, increase machine wear, and lead to malfunctions.
